Promoting a historic jail transformed into a luxury hotel presents both unique opportunities and challenges. Transitioning the hotel's penal past into an attractive destination for upscale travelers required finesse, while offering myriad story angles previously untapped in the adaptive reuse hotel landscape.
NJFPR's focus was securing widespread national and international media. In the year since it opened, the Agency obtained coverage on NBC's Today Show, Good Morning America and in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Travel + Leisure, National Geographic Traveler, Departures and ForbesLife. The Liberty and its bar were named to the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler "Hot List" for 2008. Two Associated Press stories syndicated nationally and internationally to more than 100 outlets. Impressions are in the 10's of millions and occupancy has climbed steadily to reach 76%. The hotel has won two awards for historic preservation and is home to the most sought after bar and restaurant in Boston.
